Turkey Mountain In Tulsa Oklahoma

We recently visited Turkey Mountain in beautiful Tulsa Oklahoma.

What we found:

Lots of people enjoying gorgeous weather and enjoying outdoor recreation in lots of different ways.

Turkey Mountain is perfect for a family hike, trail riding, jogging, walking your dog (or cat, yes there was a group that had a cat on a leash…uummm I’ll just leave it at that).

Cost:

FREE (my favorite price)

 Perfect for:

Families, hikers, nature lovers, joggers, trail riders.

Literally anyone.  And I LOVED that about Turkey Mountain.

There was an option of 4 trails all marked by a different color (red, yellow, blue, and pink).  There was also a detailed map detailing what each color represented, how long the trails were and how extreme.  I had my family with me that included my husband and my 3 boys ages  4, 7, and 13.  We chose the mild trail because I did not want to carry my 4 year old, and it was PERFECT.  However it was short, it took about 40 minutes to complete.  So when that mild nature walk was over my husband took the kids to their grandmas and my sister and I chose another more adventurous trail (we basically chose a different color).  The trail was longer, the hills were steeper and the views were bigger.

Adventure Level:

Beginner to Intermediate

The mild trails were perfect for small children, but if you are into something a little more strenuous then taking your mountain bikes for some trail riding would have been a thrill.  There were lots of hills up and down, and a very rocky terrain.  So you would definitely want to be skilled in mountain biking.

Is this worth the trip?

YES!  If you are in the area and you are looking for some fresh air, to get your kids outdoors, a strenuous jog or a thrill on your mountain bike, then GO!  It’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s FREE!

(yep, we had a blast!)

Other things to know:

Athletic shoes or hiking boots should be worn, bring a water bottle, keep pets on a leash and have fun!

Facilities:

Restroom, water fountain.

Yes, go, go now. 🙂

I go here every time I’m visiting Tulsa.
