The Spirit of Adventure

ad·ven·ture

There were several definitions, but I liked this one…

participation in exciting undertakings.

the spirit of adventure.

What is an adventure?  Great question, and one with many different answers.

but for me…

Really, an adventure is anytime I try something new or unfamiliar, take a risk.

And especially when I venture out of my comfort zone and involve other people (my family).  They are in my adventure club whether they want to be or not.

I started this blog in 2014, and really, for just one purpose, and that was

to help people who felt stuck and wanted something more for their kids than just an afternoon of video games.  I wanted to encourage people to get outside of their comfort zones and take their families on adventures, big or small.  I wanted to show people what’s right outside their door and that this world is so spectacular and that they can enjoy it.

Did I say for just one purpose?

Okay, I have another one, and that was to show MY family what’s right outside their door and nd that this world and creation is so beautiful and amazing. Although their is nothing wrong with lazy afternoons or sporting activities, that there is more to experience and I don’t want them to miss it.

Make your kids do stuff they don’t want to do!

I promise you, anytime I take my kids to a new place to explore, they never want to go because it’s easier to stay home and comfortable, and that is true.  But I will also tell you that I INSIST we do what I have planned.  I instruct them to get their bikes or their pocket knives or whatever I feel like they might want to have when we reach our destination.

The result?

Every.single.time the spirit of adventure finds a way into their hearts and they explore with me with excitement.  They forget about what they’re not doing at home.  And THAT always encourages me for the planning of our next adventure.
